Thanks Andrew. The mDot is what I have at the moment and I know there are other options but I don't have any soldering skills. 
The LoRaWAN Gateway board for the Pi looks nice but it's only 868 Mhz and I'm in Canada.
In your opinion, what would be the easiest/cheapest alternative today for 915 Mhz (let's say I find someone who can solder or I just learn how to do it)?
