Great case example.
just some thoughts/ideas:
- the gateway in the 'Alpine Hut', best at a high point and/or use something like this, a mobile light (ex army) 6 mtr mast
a computer connected to the 'hut' gateway will monitor and process the hundreds of trapsignals and take appropiate action in the form of logging and sending, through a separate rf data link, information to the man in the field, who uses a kind of 'app (a rf data receiver + BT link, so it can talk to a normal phone+special app)
advantage is that the field worker don't have to carry that extra weight (think uninterruptible powersupply for the gateway) - man in the field can 'reset or set the trap with this app and a signal is send to the master in the cabine who will process it
- there can be more then one 'field worker' and depending on their location, the smart 'trapcontroller' can guide the fieldworker to the closest 'catch.
- GPS signals can guide the field worker(s) in finding the full trap, because when the trap was set in the field, the coordinates where (through the app transmitted back) stored.
