Absolutely. In fact, MQTT is made easy with tools like Node RED. We host a public instance too (see http://croft.thethings.girovito.nl:1880). It contains a default flow that prints the decoded messages in the output window. If somebody removed that flow, you can find it in the Library (go to Menu, Import, Library). Note that it's best to host a Node RED instance yourself (see here) and connect to the same MQTT broker.
