Quick update: @jpmeijers pointed me to the interesting fact that some buildings have a metallic coating on the windows to reflect sunlight.
Since our building is pretty new and is basically a wall of glass, I positioned the gateway out of the window and did some more tests, now with far better results. Perhaps this is of some help to anyone else experiencing the same issue
