How to add ACK feature?

Hi guys,
I am a bit confused about ACK. I read that TTN doesn't support ACK to end nodes yet. Is it a limitation only in the server or it is in the gateway source code too?
I am developing my own UDP server and I am sending PUSH_ACK and PULL_ACK back to the gateway but nothing arrives to the device. Am I missing something?
