Interference between two LoRaWan networks

In the lab where I am sitting we have two LoRaWan networks. The first I'll call the proprietary network (Network 1), and the second one is TTN (Network 2).

Gateway for Network 1 is managed by a colleague and I can only hint what he should change. I can however see messages received by this gateway because I have read-only access to the backend database.

Gateway for Network 2 is manged by me and is set up according to the settings on the TTN wiki, uploading to Semtech and TTN.

Proprietary network uses:
OTAA
AppKey
AppEui
DevEui

TTN uses:
ABP
NwkSKey
AppSKey
DevAddr

I can configure a node with either the settings for Network 1, or for Network 2. A node consists of an Arduino Uno and an RN2483 module.

If I configure a node for network 1, it joins the gateway for Network 1, and only Network 1.

If I configure a node for network 2 (TTN), it normally joins the gateway for Network 2 (TTN), but sometimes will fail and join Network 1. If I switch the TTN gateway off, the node will join the proprietary network and successfully transmit packets to the backend database.

I complained with the proprietary network's admin that he allows TTN nodes to join his network. He said there is nothing he can do about it and it is not his problem, but a TTN problem.

My questions to you are:
What can I do to prevent my TTN nodes from joining non-TTN gateways?
Is there something I can recommend to the proprietary network's admin to prevent TTN nodes from joining the proprietary network?
