According to an article in a local newspaper of this morning, the Dutch technical consultancy firm TNO has called for a "people's sensor network" to monitor seismic activity resulting from the mining of Natural Gas in a large part of this province. There is a deep mistrust against the oil companies an the national governement, since they hardly compensate damages as a result of these activities. Also undamaged properties are hardly sold anymore, and if they are sold, it is at substantial losses.
TNO apparantly proposes to put out some 10.000 sensors in parallel to the existing measuring network of the authorities. If I understand correctly they are starting a feasibility study.
update: Just noticed that Google translate did not get a title of the newspaper article right. Their translation says "TNO wants to install forest sensors" while if I translate literally it should be "a forest of sensors" meaning a great many of them.
